General comments/suggestions on lectures:
374. very effective in getting information across.
375. Continue the note handouts. They were most useful.
376. n/a
378. I thought lecture was very good.
379. Allow for more student involvement with examples to make lecture more interesting and hands-on.
380. Lectures were great! I always felt engaged and the professors presented the information in a very clear way to understand. Great work!
382. It is good, but I would have liked to see more examples during class.
386. none
387. nothing
388. Make lecture more optional. If a student feels confident in themselves and the material, poor test grades should be the only consequence in my opinion. If a student can get an A without attending class every session, they should be allowed to do that without being punished for missing clicker questions.
393. NA
394. I found the lectures interesting, and the quality of the lectures seemed to be pretty good overall.
395. Go Vols!
397. Put all the formulas together at the end of a section
400. none
401. We often ran out of time due to clicker questions.
402. It was good, convenient to not need to write notes, though I never used the notes given in class, I used the online ones.
404. The activities and visual examples were a nice touch, keep it up!
405. Maybe it's just me but the rate of the material of this class was extremely overwhelming at times, and with the portfolio requirements, it made this class take a lot more time and preparation than it should have when that time couldve been used to better understand the huge amount of material presented.
407. I really enjoyed all of the lectures.
408. Spread out material.
410. A lot of times the end was rushed.
412. Clickers are not cool, I sucked at them, and didnt even answer half the questions even if i was present in class (I do have ADD though). Sometimes went too long and never started on time.
413. Overall very good and fun lectures.
414. For Flex Friday lectures, if we show up to lecture, you guys should give us the answers (or at least explain how to do the online problems) while we are in lecture. We should be rewarded for showing up to class, instead of having to go back home and go over the online problems and watching the videos.
415. I used them for each lecture. They were really helpful!
418. I was not in class the first week so it might have been covered then but I did not realize there were notes already filled in on the website. Once i realized I used them several times to clarify things but it took me 2 months to find it.
419. Very good overall. The props really helped visual concepts.
420. Less time on individual questions, and more time focusing on the concepts.
422. They are good and useful, but they are sometimes a bit rushed.
423. make them more coherent. it was clear that mr. schleter and ms. white aren't quite gelled as a team and are, at best, confusing (and confused) as a unit. that totally contradicts the "team theme" that is imposed on the students the entire semester.
424. I wish we didn't always rush to finish the notes at the end of lecture.
425. none
426. NOne
427. Professor White has a tendency to get off topic sometimes
428. Lectures are very helpful. The only issues i had were when we ran out of time to go through all the slides and when we there was a missing sheet in the lecture packets.
429. N/A
430. N/A
431. having two professors was disturbing at times
432. Nope
433. Very good pacing of the lectures
434. N/A
435. Sometimes i'd like to see more explanations or how formulas were derived or why they work.
437. Not open enough to ask questions.
438. More time.
441. None
442. Thank you!
443. Time management was not good at all.
444. None.
446. Some of the lectures were confusing with, and some concept principle were assumed to be understood and never explained. This happened only twice so overall it was great.
447. The team lectures are a good idea. They keep each other in check, and can correct mistakes if one gets stuck.
448. n/a
449. none
450. None.
451. Professor White and Professor Schleter could work better together
455. N/a
456. Maybe plan the timing out better, sometimes lecture would get caught off or rushed
457. I feel that the lectures a rushed and I feel like they are rushed whenever the topic we are discussing is hard. I feel like I never really knew what to expect on the exams. I didn't feel like anything in the lectures prepared me for the content of the material that would be on the exams.
459. None.
462. None
463. More use of demonstrations (like when we did the projectile motion and used the tennis ball). Those really helped me remember things easier.
464. Sometimes I felt like the lecture notes did not help at all with the homework. I know in engineering wants to you think outside the box but there was no help at all so it wasn't too fair.
465. Very engaging
466. Sometimes you two would move to fast to follow.
467. Sometimes we didn't have enough time to finish the lecture, and sometimes that certain annotated version wasn't posted online for us.
468. I felt like the tag team duo on lectures wasn't too good of an idea. While Profesor Schleter would be teaching it, Professor White would be joking around to much about it. Also, she was corrected at least 10 times a lecture by Schleter. She just didn't really seem to know what she was doing on a lot of the problems.
469. Just a tough class. Teachers taught very well.
470. none
472. Lectures were very good in explaining the material.
473. ...
475. very good and very efficient!
477. Work on timing, class almost always went over and felt very rushed.
479. over all the lectures were good
484. I enjoyed them compared to the average lecture.
486. Great Class
489. TA should make it easier to understand
491. none
492. Lectures sometimes move too fast and the material can seem unclear.
493. I love flex Fridays.
494. It seemed like sometimes the professors were unprepared or had conflicting answers. To me this was distracting and made the concept being taught harder to understand or lost all together.
495. A few TA's instead of just the one to help out with teaching.
496. Go Vols
499. Understandably,the lectures are a little quick for covering the amount material required, especially the last few weeks were it seemed that we never finished the material. I did try utilizing the lecture videos to fill the gaps, but it seemed that the same problem was an issue last semester as well. I do wish that the recitation was more productive. My TA seemed a little unmotivated; as a result, I believe that an opportunity to gain clarification on certain problems and their solutions was lost. The study room was a great help for me throughout the semester.

General comments/suggestions on the 'Flex Friday' approach:
374. Should have went to the lectures, too easily distracted while watching the videos.
375. I learn best in lecture, so please continue to have lectures during flex fridays.
376. I like the Flex Friday approach but i do not think it should be extended to all lectures because I believe it is easier to learn when your are actually listening to the professors in person and can ask them questions directly
378. I think that I learned more from actually going to lectures on flex friday because there were less people and it was easier to ask questions. I think the less people made it a better learning environment.
379. Flex Friday is a good idea because it gives students a slight break, however I feel that I learn more in lecture. The number of Flex Fridays should limited or students who still go to lecture on Flex Friday should receive extra credit.
380. Flex Friday's are a great idea, but I'm never motivated to go. Since there's no clicker questions I always sleep in rather than attending lecture. I also never watched the Flex Friday videos and therefore did not understand the material from Flex Friday lectures. Flex Friday is a great idea, but I feel as though many students were in my position where they weren't motivated to attend or watch the videos. I think it would be beneficial to discontinue them so students have an incentive to go to class and they can learn the material better.
382. I liked the option.
386. none
387. nothing
388. I think the flex friday videos should be an option. Students should get to choose whether they want their credit through clicker points or Flex Friday videos (all lectures)
393. It was very refreshing to watch videos and answer the questions on our own time. But I would not reconnect it for every lecture
394. I liked the 'Flex Friday' approach because it allowed me to catch up on some sleep without missing any material prsented in the lecture that day.
395. Go Vols!
397. Go over the Homework questions more in class
398. I attended one flex Friday lecture towards the end of the semester because I was having trouble with a few of the questions but the lecture questions were not covered.
400. none
401. I learned more from the online questions than from being in lectures
402. not sure anyone would argue against less class
404. It's a good balance as it is now, it lets those who just need a day off take it, without impacting the performance of others.
405. Showing up in the class has little to no participation involved so the videos are just as productive as being present during lectures. It just requires people to watch them.
407. Flex Friday was a nice incentive.
409. I enjoy having the Flex Fridays because they allow me to do it whenever I want to before/during the weekend, but I think if it was every lecture people wouldn't stay caught up.
410. I liked the Flex Friday concept. It should stay.
412. It was nice having the ability to sleep in, however, when test time came you would have to look over all the flex friday lectures to understand what you missed. It's a good idea, doesnt need to exceed anything more than fridays.
413. I like it just on the friday because it gives you the option to not go, but I like how the other lectures are mandatory.
414. For Flex Friday lectures, if we show up to lecture, you guys should give us the answers (or at least explain how to do the online problems) while we are in lecture. We should be rewarded for showing up to class, instead of having to go back home and go over the online problems and watching the videos.
415. I think we had a nice number of flex friday lectures. I don't think all of the lectures should be flex friday, though.
418. I did not use the videos all that much because I would get distracted and have to spend more time re watching the videos then in lecture but if you can learn like that then there is no reason it can't be an option for all lectures.
419. nice to have as an option once a week, but I wouldn't recommend as an alternative to all lectures.
420. Helpful, but not needed all the time.
422. It is good for Fridays, but as a necessary course, lectures should be mandatory.
423. it was frustrating to not be rewarded in some way for attendance on Fridays. Towards the end of the semester you guys pretty much stopped giving answers to the video questions, which was the only tangible incentive for showing up. you tell me, why should anybody show up on fridays? i'd say make a choice, either mandate that fridays are on-line day, no one needs to show up, or just scrap it all together.
424. I think the lecture help with learning concepts more than the videos.
425. good idea but kept me from learning the material when I didn't have to go to lecture and forgot to watch the videos.
426. none
429. N/A
430. N/A
431. Extend the extra credit for the questions until sunday
432. I think it should be for all lectures
433. Great concept, especially when busy wih other things
434. The hardest concepts seemed to fall on Flex Fridays
435. Flex friday is only good for days without recitation. Also people need to physically sit in a classroom or else they'd get hella lazy.
437. It is good to have every once in a while.
438. Great idea.
440. I learned less during flex Friday because I was usually distracted by other things going on. I wasn't completely dedicated to watching that video, like I am in lecture.
441. I was not a big fan of it
442. Thank you.
443. I liked the flex Friday. I went to all of them, and I liked the time management there and I found it easier to ask questions since there wasn't as many people.
444. I liked the idea, but I had a class right before and right after so I always went to lecture. It didn't change much for me.
446. I am definitely not trying to be rude, but the of the video lecture were hard to follow because of the sensitivity of the microphone. The breathing and other mouth sounds that the microphone picked up were EXTREMELY distracting. Especially when the material is confusing it feeds into a loop of frustration.
447. From my experience the people who didn't attend the flex Friday lectures found themselves never watching the videos and struggled with the material covered.
448. N/a
449. none
450. Go over all the questions that we need to answer online in the actual lecture on Flex Friday.
451. I liked having the option, I think it is a great idea.
453. Wonderful approach giving everyone kind of a day off and letting them learn for themselves. Should do some on more than just Friday but not all.
454. I found the Flex Friday videos to be very helpful. Even if I attended lecture, sometimes I needed to review a specific section. The information is organized and easy to find.
455. N/a
456. Maybe include questions that were asked in actual lecture.
457. I liked flexible Friday because if you had to miss it for some reason you didn't feel like you would miss too much. In the beginning the professors would answer the questions that would pertain to the flex Friday videos but most of the time they would not answer the questions which I felt was kind of annoying because the students who took the time out to attend were not given any amount of reward for their dedication to the class.
459. It was nice to have extra time on fridays but I seem to learn better by seeing it in person.
462. None
463. It wasn't as effective as actually being there for lecture.
465. None. It's a good ststem
467. risky, but I took advantage of it and just watched the lectures online
468. The flec friday concept was awesome because you could watch the video anytime before your next video, also the lectures that were flex weren'ttoo hard. The clicker questions after the video helped a ton and were easy to understand. There were a few mistakes on the videos though regarding the concept or some weren't explained too well.
469. I like it. I mean if students think they can do it by themselves then you may as well allow them year around.
470. The questions definitely helped to give incentive to actually watch the video and not just skip to the end and copy everything down.
472. I really liked the idea of having Flex Friday. It was a good concept and helped out a lot. I think it would be a good thing to keep Flex Fridays around.
473. ...
475. i think that for students sake, it is important to attend lectures. i dont think that my learning benefit suffers much from watching the video as opposed to attending the lecture, but there are other benefits of having to walk to a lecture hall.
477. I really like this, because if you missed something in class or did not fully understand a concept in lecture, you could hear it again and at your own pace. I think that all the lectures should have online presentations, however I still think that the "flex" part should only still be on fridays. Students could also have like 3 extra "flex lectures" on any of them. For example if they missed lecture for some valid reason they could watch it too make up for missing a lecture. I would cap it at 3 so students could not abuse it.
478. I LOVE this approach. I can pause the video to write down the equations used in an example problem (the lecture often moves too fast for me to do this) and I can rewind and review anything I don't understand.
479. The question system in the flex fridays was ideal because it encouraged me to learn the answer instead of giving up if i got it wrong
481. A person should only be given the option depending on their grade in the class or the last exam, people can't really choose for themeselves what is actually best.
484. Very good idea. It helped me cool down at the end of the week.
486. N/A
489. New and interesting
491. It awesome!!!
492. Flex friday is a really nice perk. I think it should remain a part of the course.
493. Only keep it on Fridays, because people go out the night before, and Fridays should be days to relax and not worry about homework. Extending that to all lectures may cause poor results from people who excel bye visually seeing the information in person.
494. The videos seem like a good idea but I found the concepts taught on flex fridays were the most difficult.
495. Flex Friday is a good idea but some people can become undisciplined from it
496. Go Vols
497. None
499. I believe it is just as helpful as the standard lecture except you can learn at your own pace.

378. I have used a clicker in at least one class every semester sense I have been here.
379. The clickers are a good way to keep students involved in lecture. They should be used more often.
380. Clickers were great because if I found my mind drifting off, a clicker question would keep my attention.

414. I think that the clickers served a good purpose, and it is an incentive to not miss class.
418. I liked the clicker made you make decisions in class and interact with others during class.
419. Good way to track my understanding through lectures. I like them. Also, grade booster is always a good thing.
420. Wish they were not needed, I would rather sign in on a sheet of paper
422. They are clickers. I like their use.

All though they aren't worth too much it still stinks when you get them wrong.

General comments/suggestions on recitations:
374. Very helpful in learning the material.
375. In recitation we sometimes spent more time trying to get a device to function properly instead of going over the concepts.
376. n/a
378. I think the attention span of the people in my recitation was the issue not my TA.
379. Recitations should contain more hands-on labs rather than labs where all it is are review problems.
380. Some recitations were great and it help me understand the material better while others I did not feel this way and I didn't learn very much.
382. Most recitations we sat and listened to the TA give us the answer.
383. no
386. none
387. nothing
388. Students should be graded for more than just showing up so they are more motivated to work and learn.
393. TA was difficult to understand her reasoning sometimes.
394. I thought the recitations did a good job of further explaining concepts taught in the lectures.
395. Go Vols!
397. None
400. none
401. None.
402. I wish we just worked together on homework problems, when we did I learned more because it's more of a discussion of how to do them.
404. The workshop was nice, but could you please find someone to make sure all the machines are working?
405. Most of the time, it just seemed like they didn't want to be there... a severe lack of enthusiasm in the class made recitations a drag.
407. Gabrielle was very knowledgeable and approachable. Nate was a big help with the final team project.
409. I had an awesome TA and seeing some of the concepts in action was really neat, but it did not really help me learn. I learn better by attending a lecture and then working on the homework by myself. I think one way to improve recitation is make it like the Chemistry courses where you meet for recitation once per week.
410. They helped me better understand the concept of our lectures.
412. I thought Josh and Nate were both very helpful, two great guys that seem to enjoy what they are doing
413. I felt that at the beginning of the semester they were more effect and useful, towards the end the task were not as helpful.
414. I learned a lot in recitations.
418. Josh was very helpful.
419. Loved them. Loved working in groups and being forced to switch actually helped get new perspectives on ideas. TAs were always helpful and Prof Schleter was often available for additional questions as well.
420. Have TA's that care about teaching, mine was not so good at that.
422. They can be useful.
423. sometimes they were fun, sometimes they sucked. i think that is just the way they will be.
424. The physical examples help a lot with explaining/understanding concepts from lecture.

433. Easily the most rewarding part of ef 151

435. Recitations are pretty useless except for the few actually interesting projects. Favorite was when we got to try to optimize a toy car. Try to make them all like that maybe?
438. Need's more focused concepts to work on.
441. I like recitation, I just got the feeling at times that the ta did not care and wanted to be done
442. Thank you
443. We didn't really go over much in recitation. To me, it wasn't useful, it was just another hour I sat there being confused because we didn't really discuss the material.
444. Honestly, Katherine did not help us much at all. She is a nice girl, but really could not communicate well to the class. The most beneficial aspect of recitation is normally having a helpful TA but instead it was more of a waste of time.
446. great TA
447. Recitations are often helpful in presenting real life applications of the covered material.
448. n/a
449. none
450. None.
451. They were very helpful with understanding the material better since the lectures are so fast and we get to see and do hands-on demonstrations.
453. Explain things better. We have over an hour in the class and I'm sure some students want to learn why problems are the way they are instead of knowing just how to do them.

459. None.
462. None
463. none
465. None
467. Somewhat pointless. Only a few times did I learn something new in recitation. People just sat around with their phones out or making their teammate do all the work.
468. I learned more from my TA when he actually worked out problems in the recitations. A lot of recitations are based off concept which is cool and all, but the entire recitation shouldn't just be concepts. The math portion on the exam is the bulk of points, they should focus more on that.
469. Enjoyed the projects
470. none
472. Really enjoyed my TA. He was very helpful and did a good job at explaining what was taught in the lectures.
473. .....
475. wished i had more hours to work in workshop (nates room) for project
477. Have better qualified people to teach recitations. On several occasions I asked my TA about problems and the TA could not answer them, even when I came back later if I was still having trouble with a concept. If they do not know an answer or cannot fully explain it they should take some initiative and find out answer/concept and get back with the student.
478. My TA was awesome and helped me with several lessons that I did not understand.
479. Recitations were good for practice on the material
481. Some are very useful while others are not too necessary. Cannot believe I am suggesting this but mini quizzes on the units or every other class might make it easier for the students when the tests come so they gradually pick up the information, plus the easy cushion on a grade too most.
484. Recitation didn't really help me.
486. N/A
489. Not very effective on my end wish they were better
492. Recitation was always enjoyable and was a great place to ask for extra help.
493. none
494. The recitations were very helpful for understanding concepts and being able to visualize problems.
495. Recitations helped create good examples
496. None
497. None
499. As stated before, recitations could be greatly effective in my opinion,as long as long as the TA is eager to teach, which in my case I feel that she was not.

How does the homework system compare to other systems you may have used?
374. It definitely makes you learn the material more than most homework systems, however some of the questions are simply harder than the test questions and can be very frustrating
375. Itn is much better than web assign. I wish all my classes used this system.
376. I liked the homework system because of the extra credit opportunities and the fact that hints were offered if necessary
377. I like the additional feedback it provides if our answer is off slightly ("off by factor of 2", "off by factor of pi")
378. The online homework was just as good as most of the other homeworks I have done online.
379. This homework system is like no other. I enjoy having the opportunity to receive extra credit for every homework assignment. I enjoy how these assignments are set up more than other classes.
380. The EF homework system is the best I've ever seen. I love the discussion board and the helpful hints. It reall is awesome.
381. One of the better ones.
382. This is 10 times better than Mastering Chem
383. I like it better, immediate feedback
385. Too much work too much time
386. The IVC was very helpful with helping me arrive at the answer. Definitely wish every class had the IVC.
387. make it easier
388. I think this is the absolute best homework system I have ever used. It is very helpful and I like that there are plenty of ways to get help if you get stuck.
389. It is much better
390. very organized and sipmle
391. The accuracy is a lot more forgiving making it easier.
392. It is much more organized and easy to use.
393. Great. I love EF homework system
394. This homework system is much more helpful than those used for other classes.
395. It's amazing compared to web assign.
396. This system is far easier to use than the other math oriented systems like webassign and far better than mastering chem.
397. To much of it compared to the others
398. It is a whole lot better than others I have used at UT so far.
399. Not too bad
400. the best i have used so far
401. I loved it.
402. It forces you to learn the stuff or fail, so thats good.
403. I find it easier to use than most and more helpful with the hints and intermediate value checks given.
404. Better, but not for people like myself, who need others to urge them on.
405. It's extremely unforgiving and some of the time can be frustrating. The problem isn't the system, it's the amount of homework, but I realize that this is necessary to understand concepts and to get practice in.
407. I like it more than the other systems I have used (blackboard, masteringchemistry, masteringbiology).
408. It dosen't.
409. It is much better than any of the other homework websites I have used. Between the units, hints, value checks, and discussion board there were very few homeworks that I could not figure out the process on my own.
410. I actually like Mastering Chemistry better. It has a better tolerance and gives better hints.
412. I like how the homework system gives you helpful hints, however some of the homework problems were too difficult
413. I like this a lot better than web assign!
414. I like this homework system. It was just a ton of homework, but this is how you learn, so I can't complain too much.
415. No. It's way better than any other homework systems. The discussion section was great!
416. Its way better. But more intermediate value checks would be better. It would also be better if they didn't take hours to complete
418. The way the homework is set up is great very user friendly. way better then mastering chemistry and web assign which you had to pay for
419. I wish all classes had a similar system. The feedback is great, the discussion board is so useful, and having multiple attempts is great.
420. Better than some, but still could have more IVC and rounding was an issue.
421. I like it best. Especially being able to do it for extra credit. Having it be required also helped me learn a lot more
422. It is immediate and often tells you what you may have done wrong.

The real-time feedback is nice.
423. ALL online homework systems suck!
424. I like this system better than pretty much all the other systems I have used. Its easier and the hints make more sense.
425. the homework system was very easy to use and the hints and value checks were very helpful. i have never used a homework system like this
426. exellent
427. It's a pain having so much homework. Especially when two sections are due on the same night
428. Iblike the fact you have the opportunity to get extra credit on all homework.
429. so far, this one is the best.
430. It is very good compared to others
431. perfect with some flaws like the units which the system sometimes gets it wrong
432. Much better
433. Far superior to other systems
434. It's reliable
435. I hate most other online homework systems but this one was alright. Not too many questions, bonus points for finishing early, intermediate value checks, easy to find as well as having notes available on the same bar. It was pretty good. I made an effort to do all the problems by myself with minimal help and that's why the tests were all easy pretty much.
436. I like the program. It's much better than the web assign I've used in other classes. I don't like the work itself though.
437. I liked it a lot better.
438. Much better than web assign.
439. it is better
440. This one was much better. The discussion board was extremely helpful on difficult questions. The intermediate values were also helpful!
441. I like this system better then any other I have used.
442. Better.
443. I liked the homework system. I hate webassign because answers have to be entered a certain way. I liked the flexibility of this system.,
444. Better by far.
445. Better than most.
446. the best. It beats everything i have used so far
447. I personally like the online homework system that can give you hints, and intermediate checks.
448. Good system
449. This homework system is more hard to do by individual, but easier if work as group.
450. A little less "moody".
451. I really like this homework system and the 110 percent option. It was easy to use and helped me learn the material better, especially when I was able to read the discussions.
452. No other homework systems are like this. It's awesome
453. Best one yet.
454. It was much better than the average Mastering Whatnot. It was nice to see that the homework problems for once corresponded with the material learned in class.
455. More efficient.
456. It can be very aggravating at sometimes due to accuracy of answers. But it is mostly the same.
457. It gives you more/better hints then the other computer systems that I have had to use.
458. I liked this better. The availability of hints and discussion boards were helpful when we were first learning a topic.
459. It is better.
460. This system is much better than most systems that I have used
461. much easier than my calc online homework!
462. I like the opportunity for extra credit
463. way better than webassign
464. Better
465. A lot more work
466. Similar to webassign for math.
467. It is so much better. It's clear in giving directions, and the questions are directly stated. I'm never confused about what I have to do. It's also nice to have multiple tries.
468. N/A
469. I liked it better because of the feedback.
470. its much better than most homework sites I have used.
471. It is very effective.
472. It worked pretty good. Sometimes it was annoying if everything was entered correctly but not exactly how the system wanted it.
473. ...
474. I like the hw system fine. It worked great
475. much better than webassign and masteringchemistry.
476. its better
477. Have more intermediate value checks in problems, they helped tremendously.
478. It is the best one and doesn't shut down often like other sites I have used (Webassign especially).
479. Probably the best i've used
480. It's great to provide examples, but the sheer amount becomes an issue when combined with the weight of other college responsibilities. Couple this with the fact that the tests are generally much harder than the homework problems and it becomes quite easy to fall behind.
481. Better because it will tell you what is off usually and you can try pretty much an unlimited amount unlike others that shut you down after 5.
483. VERY GOOD!
484. WWAY WAY WAY better than web assign!! In another league.
486. Great
488. The system is easy to work with and doesn't cause many issues.
489. Difficult for me it was difficult haha
490. if you dont require the book for the course, then a hint saying 'example such and such in the book' is not a hint. If anything, its annoying.
491. better than web assign
492. This homework system is much more concise than most others I've used.
493. I like it because it forces us to write it down using units, and the pictures, value checks, and discussion board really help.
494. I like the system because it gives you many tries plus the bonus if you get an early start encourages me to get it done.
495. It is much better than other systems I have used
496. By far the best
497. I like it better than Blackboard
498. I'm actually surprised by how well the homework system would work. It would pick up on any units that I put into it. It was never wrong, so when I got an answer wrong, I knew that it was my fault, not the system, so I felt some security knowing that.
499. It was very helpful. It would have been nice to work each type of problem more than once. It seemed I would struggle on a single problem, and when I finally got it correct I would move on to a different type of problem forgetting what I had just learned.

General comments/suggestions for improving the homework system:
374. works very well, could use more intermediate value checks on the harder problems.
375. Look at textbook example ___ hint is not very helpful.
376. n/a
378. I feel like some of the intermediate value checks might be off because I got some right answers using the values it told me were wrong.
379. Homework assigned on Fridays should be due for 120% before Friday night and 110% before Monday Night.
380. I'm not sure if this is doable, but it would be beneficial to see videos or pdf files to certain questions that were difficult. Sometimes I would get an answer, or someone would help me get and answer and I would not understand the work involved. Video answers would be great.
382. It took so long to do.
383. no
386. none
387. nothing
388. The format we are required to use is very annoying. I think that some other method of organization should be used.
393. Sometimes it was too difficult and nearly impossible to understand.
394. I think that intermediate value checks could be added to a few more problems on each homework, but other than that I found the homework system to be extremely helpful.
395. Go Vols!
396. I really benefited from the 110% credit on working homework problems on the day they were assigned, it made me stress less if I was having a hard time getting the correct answer. Though I will state whenever hints said look at the text book, they tend to be rather useless and frustrating.
397. A formula sheet included from the lectures
400. none
401. More hints.
402. make checking the discussion board a bit more organized
404. More pictures would be nice.
405. N/A Read above, the way it's set up now is somewhat necessary.
407. I liked the homework set up.
410. 40% of the time the hints weren't useful when I truly needed them.
411. More intermediate value checks/hints
412. very similar questions to the test
413. None, maybe a few of them could have some more hints.
414. I think the system is good as it is.
415. None.
418. Toward the end of the semester there were more homework helps during lecture and that was much more helpful not having to spend as much time trying to figure out how to set it up while still understanding the concepts
419. Maybe making it a little less lengthy. That was my only trouble was the amount of time because there were so many problems...
420. More IVC and rounding should be more lenient.
422. Perhaps a bit less homework. It really is a lot.
423. it's excessive. way too much. period. the end. at a certain point you can no longer benefit from the mindless number crunching within all these damn formulas we're given. it becomes a race to just get it done rather than understand and analyze what's going on. i don't understand what it is preparing us for, other than to become calculator-wielding, paper-consuming, formula-dependent robots who can't actually utilize any critical thinking skills.
424. Sometimes the hints can be vague and the textbook hints don't help if you don't have a textbook.
425. none
426. none
427. Don't make two sections due on the same night. We have other things to study for and assignments for other classes to do.
428. Cut back the length of time needed to complete homework. It's like EF homework would compete with homework from other classes.

438. Works well doesn't need any changes.
441. Give more hints on the harder problems
442. None.
443. Not as much penalty and more "less-sarcastic" hints.
444. None. I like the system.
446. more intermediate value checks
447. While the homework is often a pain, it is essential to doing well in the class.
448. n/a
449. none
450. None.
451. More intermediate value checks on some of the harder questions.
453. None
454. I think providing some more practice (not for credit/optional) problems would really help. To see problems that test the same concepts but are set up differently.
455. N/a
456. Not a major problem but could possible be a little more visually stimulating, and designed a little better.
457. There are a ridiculous amount of homework problems so it would be nice if there were less homework problems because when there are too many they become more of a nuisance then helpful.
459. None.
462. None
463. none
464. If it went with the lecture more, it would help.
465. None
467. none!
468. The IVC are a MUST. The hints could be a little more helpful. Maybe after a certain amount of tries a big hint is given? The online homework took a ton of time away from me and from studying for my other classes.
469. Maybe have links to similar problems for the more difficult problems.
470. I wish I had more time before the 110% is due after the lecture where we finish going over the information for that homework. Maybe an extra day to work it after we learn it in lecture.
472. Sometimes it was annoying if everything was entered correctly but not exactly how the system wanted it. So maybe working on making that a little better would help.
473. ...
475. some concepts on homework were concepts not even touched in class. i would have appreciated it if we would have at least hinted towards them.
477. Give more time to complete the extra credit date for the homework.
478. N/A
479. none
481. Some questions are just really meant to trick the students which I am never a fan of, if they understand the concept and how to do the unit why an unnecessary trick. However, if you do use them make sure the hints are a little more helpful when you know its one that people generally have a hard time with.
484. No.
486. N/A
489. Maybe be a little easier
490. Better, less useless hints. I'm looking at you 'does not require calculations'
491. Try not to assign two on mondays
492. The homework system is good the way it is.
493. none
494. If you forget units it shouldn't count off it should just remind you that you need them and let you put in units without penalization.
495. Create a larger EF open study room so more students can get help at once
496. Go Vols
497. None
498. I think the homework system is an effective way to really know the material.
499. Maybe more repetition.

388. This is just an observation but it seems to me like people are scared to ask questions. On most questions the most recent one was from a semester or two ago. Personally, if more people asked questions, I would feel more comfortable doing so. Maybe you could find a way to motivate students to ask questions.

Have the students specify a problem they're having problems on the ask it so it's all in the same place and future students can just search under that question for that semester. List it numerically and if there aren't any under that question just leave it as a header.

379. Study groups allow for good conversation about solving certain EF problems and understanding certain concepts.
380. Fortunately I had people in class that were my friends but not everyone has that. I think it would be beneficial to assign study groups and maybe make it a team homework assignment. Overall Class

Additional comments/suggestions for improving EF 151:
374. It was a very well designed class that gave you all the opportunities you could ask for to succeed.
375. none
376. go over more homework problems in recitation
378. The class was a good time.
379. This was a very intellectual stimulating class that I learned a lot from. One thing that I wish was different though, is that I think exams should last the length of a recitation, not a lecture.
380. Everyone is doing an awesome job!
382. NA
383. let us get points back on exams
386. none
387. nothing
388. This is the most well organized, reassuring class I have ever taken. Everything works like a charm and it helped me enjoy the class. This has been my favorite class in college.

394. I though the class was very well done.
395. Go Vols!!!
396. Keep with the handing out section notes, it makes note taking easier and helps you get the key points of lecture. Also either do not recommend the text book or don't make it sound as though it is important to the class, because it isn't.

402. Maybe let people leave recitation when they finish instead of starving for an extra 30 minutes when there's nothing left to do
405. Team project (final) should be assigned at the beginning of the semester. Email notifcations for students should be implemented into the website. Give alittle more time for homework to get done at 100%. The extra credit should stay the same (110%).
407. The layout of the class allowed me to learn much about the subject. I believe that it should continue as is.
410. The final project was the worse part. I am not majoring in mechanical engineering for a reason.
411. Save the SAS extra points for a later exam or offer multiple
412. Very fun class, I loved everything about it.
413. One of my favorite classes.
414. I loved this class. The tests were just hard because we didn't have much time to take them!
415. I LOVE THIS CLASS YAY
418. I really like the class. for a large class very clear defined objectives and well organized. Professors were helpful in and out of class. This class made me realize I would rather do hours of engineering homework then 30 minutes of English class.
419. Definitely the hardest, but by far my favorite class this semester. A little less homework would have been nice, but I enjoyed it and thought all the professors/TAs did a great job.
420. Less magnitude of Homework due on Mondays, having 2 hw assignments on top of other work is stressful.
422. This class should be already refined to the point where it likely does not need much improvement.
423. it's a machine. to be honest, i got sick of being in the belly of it and it made me figure out that it's not what i thought i wanted. it's a weed out class i guess and it worked on me, though i feel i did fairly well in the course--considering i've never had any physics and been out of high school for 10 years. i know there are some very intelligent people in the ef/engineering dept--much more intelligent than I--but I think they need to get off their high horse about it and possibly consider changing the way some things are done and/or branch out and try some new things. but that's just my 2 cents....

427. I don't feel like this class should be required for chemical engineers. I don't feel like I needed to know anything that was taught in this class. I want to design vaccines and I don't need to know about torque, I hate physics and have been on the struggle bus all year. Hopefully I'll find 152 more useful.
429. Lazy Dog should be fired.

435. Of course you can't enjoy it because the homework and class time was like 70% of my load this semester but it was alright.
438. Good class.

442. Thank you
443. Better use of time in lecture.
444. Just get a better TA
446. good run
447. EF can be an extremely hard class at times, but if you put in the work, the instructors will help you out and you'll see results in the end.

454. Great class. I definitely feel like I learned a lot. Looking forward to EF152.

463. This is definitely a weed out class. I put so much time into it
464. Sometimes I felt like the lecture notes did not help at all with the homework. I know in engineering wants to you think outside the box but there was no help at all so it wasn't too fair.

467. No need for improvement! It has been an awesome experience!

475. i thought about this a lot, and i can tell you guys really have done a lot to make this class not as hard as it could be. if i could add one thing to this course, i would like it if there was some sort of session before exams where i could go to so i go prepare for the exam. many of my other math/science classes do this and it is helpful for me when they do this. also improving the access of help from the study room would be good.
477. Have the rube project in the middle of the semester. I felt like it was very odd time to have that project because of the timing in the semester.
478. N/A
479. more hands on group projects
480. One thing that I really didn't like was that there was nothing taught that related to Computer Science. It was really troublesome trying to learn all of material when I knew that I would never use it in my engineering field. Maybe you guys could find some way to include all of the engineering majors (computer science isn't the only one left out) so that this isn't just a very difficult gen ed for some engineers.
481. If you want kids to succeed don't have a final physics exam at 8 am, there are studies.
484. No. Take EF 105 out of the picture and I would be happy.

489. Make it easier
492. EF 151 has been an awesome class.
493. Make sure people study hard and put forth the work and time necessary, because people do not understand that and that's why they struggle.
494. EF151 is a very time demanding class. Aside from class time, the homework is not only difficult but requires much thought and time. Most people I assume are taking more time demanding classes around the same time making it hard to focus and do well in all classes. I think to improve EF151 there should be slightly less homework.
