General comments/suggestions on lectures:

374.  very effective in getting information across. 375.  Continue the note handouts. I always felt engaged and the professors presented the information in a very clear way to understand. If a student feels confident in themselves and the material, poor test grades should be the only consequence in my opinion.If a student can get an A without attending class every session, they should be allowed to do that without being punished for missing clicker questions. 393.  NA 394.  I found the lectures interesting, and the quality of the lectures seemed to be pretty good overall. 395.  Go Vols! 397.  Put all the formulas together at the end of a section 400.  none 401.  We often ran out of time due to clicker questions. 402.  It was good, convenient to not need to write notes, though I never used the notes given in class, I used the online ones. 404.  The activities and visual examples were a nice touch, keep it up! 405.  Maybe it's just me but the rate of the material of this class was extremely overwhelming at times, and with the portfolio requirements, it made this class take a lot more time and preparation than it should have when that time couldve been used to better understand the huge amount of material presented. 407.  I really enjoyed all of the lectures. 408.  Spread out material. 410.  A lot of times the end was rushed. 412.  Clickers are not cool, I sucked at them, and didnt even answer half the questions even if i was present in class (I do have ADD though). Sometimes went too long and never started on time. 413.  Overall very good and fun lectures. 414.  For Flex Friday lectures, if we show up to lecture, you guys should give us the answers (or at least explain how to do the online problems) while we are in lecture. We should be rewarded for showing up to class, instead of having to go back home and go over the online problems and watching the videos. 415.  I used them for each lecture. They were really helpful! 418.  I was not in class the first week so it might have been covered then but I did not realize there were notes already filled in on the website. Once i realized I used them several times to clarify things but it took me 2 months to find it. 419.  Very good overall. The props really helped visual concepts. 420.  Less time on individual questions, and more time focusing on the concepts. 422.  They are good and useful, but they are sometimes a bit rushed. 423.  make them more coherent. it was clear that mr. schleter and ms. white aren't quite gelled as a team and are, at best, confusing (and confused) as a unit. that totally contradicts the "team theme" that is imposed on the students the entire semester. 424.  I wish we didn't always rush to finish the notes at the end of lecture. 425.  none 426.  NOne 427.  Professor White has a tendency to get off topic sometimes 428.  Lectures are very helpful. I feel like I never really knew what to expect on the exams. Those really helped me remember things easier. 464.  Sometimes I felt like the lecture notes did not help at all with the homework. I know in engineering wants to you think outside the box but there was no help at all so it wasn't too fair. 465.  Very engaging 466.  Sometimes you two would move to fast to follow. 467.  Sometimes we didn't have enough time to finish the lecture, and sometimes that certain annotated version wasn't posted online for us. 468.  I felt like the tag team duo on lectures wasn't too good of an idea. While Profesor Schleter would be teaching it, Professor White would be joking around to much about it. Also, she was corrected at least 10 times a lecture by Schleter. She just didn't really seem to know what she was doing on a lot of the problems. 469.  Just a tough class. To me this was distracting and made the concept being taught harder to understand or lost all together. 495.  A few TA's instead of just the one to help out with teaching. 496.  Go Vols 499.  Understandably,the lectures are a little quick for covering the amount material required, especially the last few weeks were it seemed that we never finished the material. I did try utilizing the lecture videos to fill the gaps, but it seemed that the same problem was an issue last semester as well. I do wish that the recitation was more productive.My TA seemed a little unmotivated; as a result, I believe that an opportunity to gain clarification on certain problems and their solutions was lost. The study room was a great help for me throughout the semester.

General comments/suggestions on the 'Flex Friday' approach:

374.  Should have went to the lectures, too easily distracted while watching the videos. 375.  I learn best in lecture, so please continue to have lectures during flex fridays. 376.  I like the Flex Friday approach but i do not think it should be extended to all lectures because I believe it is easier to learn when your are actually listening to the professors in person and can ask them questions directly 378.  I think that I learned more from actually going to lectures on flex friday because there were less people and it was easier to ask questions. I think the less people made it a better learning environment. 379.  Flex Friday is a good idea because it gives students a slight break, however I feel that I learn more in lecture. The number of Flex Fridays should limited or students who still go to lecture on Flex Friday should receive extra credit. 380.  Flex Friday's are a great idea, but I'm never motivated to go. Since there's no clicker questions I always sleep in rather than attending lecture. I also never watched the Flex Friday videos and therefore did not understand the material from Flex Friday lectures. Flex Friday is a great idea, but I feel as though many students were in my position where they weren't motivated to attend or watch the videos. I think it would be beneficial to discontinue them so students have an incentive to go to class and they can learn the material better. 382.  I liked the option. 386.  none 387.  nothing 388.  I think the flex friday videos should be an option. Students should get to choose whether they want their credit through clicker points or Flex Friday videos (all lectures) 393.  It was very refreshing to watch videos and answer the questions on our own time. But I would not reconnect it for every lecture 394.  I liked the 'Flex Friday' approach because it allowed me to catch up on some sleep without missing any material prsented in the lecture that day. 395.  Go Vols! 397.  Go over the Homework questions more in class 398.  I attended one flex Friday lecture towards the end of the semester because I was having trouble with a few of the questions but the lecture questions were not covered. 400.  none 401.  I learned more from the online questions than from being in lectures 402.  not sure anyone would argue against less class 404.  It's a good balance as it is now, it lets those who just need a day off take it, without impacting the performance of others. 405.  Showing up in the class has little to no participation involved so the videos are just as productive as being present during lectures. It just requires people to watch them. 407.  Flex Friday was a nice incentive. 409.  I enjoy having the Flex Fridays because they allow me to do it whenever I want to before/during the weekend, but I think if it was every lecture people wouldn't stay caught up. 410.  I liked the Flex Friday concept. The breathing and other mouth sounds that the microphone picked up were EXTREMELY distracting. I mean if students think they can do it by themselves then you may as well allow them year around. 470.  The questions definitely helped to give incentive to actually watch the video and not just skip to the end and copy everything down. 472.  I really liked the idea of having Flex Friday. It was a good concept and helped out a lot. I think it would be a good thing to keep Flex Fridays around. 473.  ... 475.  i think that for students sake, it is important to attend lectures. i dont think that my learning benefit suffers much from watching the video as opposed to attending the lecture, but there are other benefits of having to walk to a lecture hall. 477.  I really like this, because if you missed something in class or did not fully understand a concept in lecture, you could hear it again and at your own pace. I think that all the lectures should have online presentations, however I still think that the "flex" part should only still be on fridays. Students could also have like 3 extra "flex lectures" on any of them. For example if they missed lecture for some valid reason they could watch it too make up for missing a lecture. I would cap it at 3 so students could not abuse it. 478.  I LOVE this approach. I can pause the video to write down the equations used in an example problem (the lecture often moves too fast for me to do this) and I can rewind and review anything I don't understand. 479.  The question system in the flex fridays was ideal because it encouraged me to learn the answer instead of giving up if i got it wrong 481.  A person should only be given the option depending on their grade in the class or the last exam, people can't really choose for themeselves what is actually best. 484.  Very good idea. General comments/suggestions on recitations:

374.  Very helpful in learning the material. 375.  In recitation we sometimes spent more time trying to get a device to function properly instead of going over the concepts. 376.  n/a 378.  I think the attention span of the people in my recitation was the issue not my TA. 379.  Recitations should contain more hands-on labs rather than labs where all it is are review problems. 380.  Some recitations were great and it help me understand the material better while others I did not feel this way and I didn't learn very much. 382.  Most recitations we sat and listened to the TA give us the answer. 383.  no 386.  none 387.  nothing 388.  Students should be graded for more than just showing up so they are more motivated to work and learn. 393.  TA was difficult to understand her reasoning sometimes. 394.  I thought the recitations did a good job of further explaining concepts taught in the lectures. 395.  Go Vols! 397.  None 400.  none 401.  None. 402.  I wish we just worked together on homework problems, when we did I learned more because it's more of a discussion of how to do them. 404.  The workshop was nice, but could you please find someone to make sure all the machines are working? 405.  Most of the time, it just seemed like they didn't want to be there... a severe lack of enthusiasm in the class made recitations a drag. 407.  Gabrielle was very knowledgeable and approachable. Nate was a big help with the final team project. 409.  I had an awesome TA and seeing some of the concepts in action was really neat, but it did not really help me learn. I learn better by attending a lecture and then working on the homework by myself. I think one way to improve recitation is make it like the Chemistry courses where you meet for recitation once per week. 410.  They helped me better understand the concept of our lectures. 412.  I thought Josh and Nate were both very helpful, two great guys that seem to enjoy what they are doing 413.  I felt that at the beginning of the semester they were more effect and useful, towards the end the task were not as helpful. 414.  I learned a lot in recitations. 418.  Josh was very helpful. 419.  Loved them. Loved working in groups and being forced to switch actually helped get new perspectives on ideas. Favorite was when we got to try to optimize a toy car. To me, it wasn't useful, it was just another hour I sat there being confused because we didn't really discuss the material. 444.  Honestly, Katherine did not help us much at all. She is a nice girl, but really could not communicate well to the class. Only a few times did I learn something new in recitation.
